Dezleganie

Artwork created for the cover of one of Corbu‘s music albums. In Romanian, “dezleganie” essentially means a type of prayer for either breaking a spell or for revealing the meaning of something. This was part of a much bigger project involving several other artworks, but the concept itself had essentially been lingering in the back of my head for well over two years before finally making it to paper. It features an small wooden chapel in a forest clearing with a cosmic raven descending and bringing the night sky with him. This piece took me well over 40h to complete, from sketching and composition to texture and shading. Packed with symbolism, the process itself was quite intricate since I wanted to design it in a way that scaled for both cover/square and poster/portrait formats.
