Named after the song by All Them Witches, this artwork was featured on the label design of one of my Hopsylvania beers. Inspired by the ruins of a medieval monastery in Lisbon, this artwork is a contemplation on the need to tear down the walls that uphold our separateness from nature. While walking through that destroyed Gothic church, stone columns which once supported grand vaulted ceilings now opened up to the grandeur of a bright blue sky, where swallows soared high above. Standing there, one could easily witness both the raw destructive power of nature as well as its equally nurturing playful side. A stark reminder of the impermanence of things and the volatile condition of what we consider to be our world.
